Volunteering
TEWLS is a women's legal service run by women. Female Darwin based lawyers who are committed to social justice, especially women's access to justice, are invited to volunteer at TEWLS to assist us in the provision of free legal advice at our free clinic, which is held each Wednesday evening. On average volunteers attend one advice clinic per month for approximately 1 hour. Volunteering is flexible and does not include the Christmas period (we close over the Christmas and New Year period). As a volunteer solicitor at TEWLS you will contribute to providing an invaluable service to the women of Darwin.
If you are admitted as a solicitor or barrister and want to volunteer please phone 08 8982 3000 for more information.
Volunteering with TEWLS also offers an exciting opportunity for law students to get involved at grass roots level and to develop their client interview skills, working alongside experienced solicitors. You may also apply to complete your Practical Legal Placement.
